How to germinate peach seeds

To germinate peach seeds it is essential that you apply a successful method, since this species of plant requires special conditions for its seeds to germinate. Therefore, We give you the step by step so that you can succeed when germinating peach seeds. Of course, keep in mind that you must be patient because the process is slow.

  • First, select the seeds of the peach fruits that are the most visually appealing. This will tell you that your seeds are healthy.
  • Later, take the seeds and pour them into a container with water and leave them there for 5 hours.
  • After the time has elapsed, remove the seeds from the bowl and dry them.
  • Then, take an airtight bag or container and put the seeds inside. In it, add, in addition, about 100 ml of water.
  • Seal the container and shake it several times. Then, you must open it and drain the liquid without removing the seeds.
  • Reseal the airtight bag or container and put it in the fridge. Try to keep it between 1 and 5 degrees Celsius, otherwise, it could slow down the germination process of the peach pit.
  • Leave the peach seeds inside the container and in the refrigerator for a month and a half.
  • Once that time has elapsed, check the container, if you see a root sprout in the peach seeds, at least one and a half centimeters, you can take them out and plant them. That’s it!

How to grow peach seed

To effectively grow peach, it is necessary to follow certain steps to ensure success, from the germination of the seed with the previously explained method to the planting and subsequent development of the peach plant. Next, we present the steps that you have to apply to the letter:

  • First, keep in mind that the substrate must be rich in supplements, that is, you can fertilize it regularly, for example, by watering with worm humus.
  • Now, prepare the ground where you are going to plant the germinated peach seeds, either in a pot or in a large space. Take the substrate and fill up to 95% of the pot. If it is on dry land, open a 10 cm deep hole in the ground and add soil with earthworm humus.
  • On the same ground, it digs small holes 5 cm deep, located 6 cm apart from each other.
  • Place sprouted peach seed in each hole.
  • Take more substrate and fill the surface until the seeds are completely covered.
